Lifeline IT Goes to the Hague for Cyber Conference

Cross-border cyber security cooperation was the key aim of the ONE Conference, attended by Lifeline IT’s Daniel this week.

The two-day event, held in The Hague, is Europe’s prime cyber event, where businesses and government share knowledge, best practice and research results. Daniel was invited to the conference as part of the delegation from the British Embassy in The Hague.

The ONE Conference comes at a time when online criminality is escalating – it is estimated that the global cost of cyber crime is set to reach 5.5 trillion Euros this year. [1]

Following an opening address on the first day from the Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, the meeting covered the latest thoughts on supply chain resilience, as well as the role of a company’s board and senior team in structuring and maintaining governance and security practices. There were further sessions on Phishing and how DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act) has strengthened resilience for the financial sector.

The second day, opened by the Dutch Minister for Justice and Security, Foort van Oosten, included a session on the growth of the human factor in cyber attacks and how AI is fuelling this. There was also the launch of an innovative new pilot to help SMEs report and gain assistance with cyber crime – a venture that is in partnership with the Dutch police.

Said Daniel: “The ONE Conference has been an incredibly valuable learning experience. Meeting companies and organisations from different countries and seeing how they are tackling cyber crime and what measures have been successful has been very insightful.

“I’ve also been able to share some of Lifeline IT’s cyber initiatives and it’s been reassuring to get positive feedback from other businesses, who see a lot of what we’re doing as innovative and best practice.”
