EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CODING FOR KIDS

Published: 21 June 2021

Are you confused by the term ‘coding’ and would you like to learn about how you can get yourself and the kids involved?

In the latest edition of Lifeline IT’s series of podcasts – The Tech Lifeline – Adam Woolf and Daniel Mitchell demystify the world of coding and explain the basics of what is fast becoming an essential life skill.

Covering everything from the hardware and software you’ll need, through to the best online tutorials to show you how to get started, this is an essential listen for anyone wanting to get youngsters – or themselves – involved in coding. In Lifeline IT’s recent home working survey, more than a third or those questioned wanted to encourage their kids to be more tech savvy.

Explained Adam: “IT and tech skills are going to be invaluable for young people in the future – possibly as much so as maths and English. Encouraging young people to get involved in coding is not only great fun, but a core skill for future employment prospects.

“I’m often amazed at what my own kids can do with coding – I consider myself an IT expert but they often show me what they’ve created and I’m seriously impressed. Aside from the learning aspect, it’s a great way to engage with children and get talking about something they are naturally enthusiastic about.”

The podcasts are available on all the usual platforms. You can subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Overcast, Player FM, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

We hope you enjoy listening and we’d love to hear your comments and feedback!
