Improve Your Team Communication with Innovative Ways of Working

As a company with multiple offices, we’re always looking for ways to help improve team communication across Lifeline IT’s locations.

We know that many businesses also operate across several sites and share this same goal, so we’re highlighting some of the systems and technology we use to help our communication, save time and reduce unnecessary admin.

Video Window
At first we were sceptical about installing this in case it felt too ‘big brother’, but it’s a great piece of tech that has improved interaction across the business. The Video Window is like a real-life teleportal – a ‘magic window’ to other locations, so everyone is part of the team no matter where their location is. We installed one in each of Lifeline IT’s three sites and it enables staff to feel as if they are actually in the same space as a person from another office. So if one of our engineers from the Amsterdam site is discussing a project with the logistics team in North London, it’s as if they are in the same room together. Our team love the video window and it has interactive features like white boards to articulate ideas. Video Window will soon be able to integrate with other platforms, such as Microsoft Teams and Cisco Webex video conferencing, making it an even more functional tech item.

Microsoft Teams Phone
We now use the Microsoft Teams Phone platform for all our internal and external calls across the offices. The benefits are that it’s completely integrated into the Microsoft system and works alongside video calls, meetings, calendars and invites, so you can switch seamlessly from a live chat to a phone call and even invite other team members into a call. It’s also a secure way to communicate and it helps us manage all our calls across the different locations.

Maximising the Salesforce Platform
Salesforce started out as a cloud-based platform originally designed for CRM (Customer Relationship Management) but it has evolved over the years and now encompasses everything from sales delivery and finance through to HR. Here at Lifeline IT we use the system to manage all areas of our business as it is fully integrated, secure and capable. However, it can be an expensive platform so you need to fully utilise it for it to be cost effective.

Face-to-Face
Technology has undoubtedly brought great advancements in how businesses communicate across multiple sites, often in different countries, but it should never wholly replace face-to-face on a permanent basis. At Lifeline IT, our business ethos is all about face-to-face relationships with our clients and we apply the same principle to our own business. Our management team are in our Peterborough office every week and we regularly go out to our Amsterdam site to catch-up with the engineers. This physical interaction is an important way of making sure we are a fully integrated company.
