Dam Life – An Update on Our European Hub

An update on our European hub - picture of Amsterdam station to illustrate the article

It’s been just over six months since we launched our Amsterdam office so we thought we’d give you an update on our European centre.

Based just five minutes walk from Amsterdam Central Station, the Lifeline IT office services both existing and new clients. The company chose Amsterdam because of its strong transport links across Europe, excellent business connections and high number of English speakers.

We talk to Lifeline IT’s Daniel Mitchell and Adam Woolf about some of the key highlights of the past six months.

Growing the team
“From the outset we wanted to have a locally based team in our Amsterdam office. At the start of the year we took on Kyle, our associate engineer who’s been fantastic. We also recently appointed another associate engineer who is going to be a great addition. Having a team based in Amsterdam who can travel in and out of countries without work visas and other documentation makes things so much easier,” explained Adam.

Working with our European clients
“We’ve already started working with some of our existing clients who have European branches. One of these is Bluegem Capital Partners, who have an office in Luxembourg. We handle all their IT services as we do for Bluegem’s London office – everything from infrastructure and security through to desktop and mobile device management – and we service it from Amsterdam.

“We know from Lifeline IT’s own research that nine out of 10 businesses are considering opening in Europe. So if companies are thinking about it, then we are on the ground to help – whether that’s with their usual IT needs or additional assistance and guidance on areas such as company formation, employment and accountancy. Having set up the Lifeline IT EU office from scratch, we know the protocols to go through and can save you time having to navigate it yourself,” said Adam.

In the media
“At the start of the year we had some great media exposure in NRC – the Netherlands leading daily newspaper – profiling Lifeline IT as a British company that has adapted and expanded despite the UK leaving the EU. We’re planning on doing more work with the local media to promote the fact that we’re a UK business that is growing in the Netherlands,” commented Daniel.

Making the most of the city
“Aside from work, there’s lots to do in and around Amsterdam. The city has done a lot of work to shed its more ‘seedy’ image and it’s really noticeable – there are great restaurants and shops and walking around the city has a good vibe. Adam and I are based in our Amsterdam office at least once a month so it’s important that we have a feel for what’s going on socially as well as from a work perspective,” said Daniel.

Don’t forget to listen to our latest podcast series, also available in video. Titled ‘Analogue vs Digital’, Adam and Daniel go head-to-head debating whether new technology and innovation really do beat more traditional forms of tech. Listen and watch here:
