MEET LIFELINE IT’S MR FIX-IT: JASON CHAPMAN
Published: 7 June 2022
If there’s a tech problem that needs solving, Lifeline IT’s Jason Chapman is the man for the job.
A consultant engineer at Lifeline IT for six years, he is the go-to person when there’s a complex client IT issue that requires a swift solution.
We chat to 34-year-old Jason about his role and the challenges and rewards it brings.
What’s your role at Lifeline IT?
I’m a senior engineer and I spend most of my time in the field, visiting clients’ sites to resolve problems and do general IT maintenance. Most of my time is spent in offices across central London. I would say I’m a good ‘fix-it’ guy – I like going into sites where we can’t work out what the problem is and having to sort it out. At Lifeline IT, the team will come to me with their problems and I’ll try and give them advice on how they can fix it.
What’s the most challenging aspect of what you do?
I’d say it’s working on things I’ve never worked on before – when you’re trying to fix something and it’s a piece of tech that’s new to the market. But it can be a real sense of achievement when you solve the problem as you’ve learnt something new. Installing new systems can be a challenge as there are multiple things that can go wrong, so you need to be able to anticipate problems before they happen.
What did you do prior to working with Lifeline IT?
I actually worked for a property company in their document management department, but I’ve always been interested in IT and wanted to move into this field. Lifeline IT gave me the opportunity to join them and the company has provided me with the training and development that’s allowed me to progress.
What’s the best thing about working at Lifeline IT?
Definitely the people I work with. We’ve got a really good team here and we all help each other out. I also enjoy the client side of things – going out to their sites and having different challenges every day.
And finally, hobbies outside of work?
I’m a very big nerd and am really into playing computer games! I’m also into photography and am about to book a photography tour in America, around Yosemite and the Nevada mountains. I’m also hoping to go on a photography tour of Japan once their Covid restrictions relax.
