WE DO THE MATHS WITH LIFELINE IT’S KRISHNA TAILOR
Published: 27 September 2022
Dealing with nearly 400 supplier and client invoices is just one of the many plates that Krishna Tailor spins each month as Lifeline IT’s principal accountant.
As Krishna marks her 10-year anniversary with the Lifeline IT team, we talk to her about her role and how she ensures financial harmony for the business and its clients and suppliers.
What is your role at Lifeline IT?
I’m principal accountant and qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant. I handle all aspects of accounts here at Lifeline IT. That covers things like purchase ledger, banking, management accounts, preparing P&L, VAT returns and producing the year end accounts for the external auditors. The role is varied and I cover all the different elements of accounting.
What’s the most challenging aspect of the job?
Credit control is the hardest – making sure we manage cash flow whilst at the same time being understanding of our clients’ positions.
What do you enjoy about the role?
Definitely the variety – I can go from doing sales ledger and raising invoices to credit control and preparing final accounts in the same day. If you work for a much larger company, you often just look after one aspect of accounts which isn’t as interesting. I enjoy talking to clients and explaining things if they have a query with an invoice – it’s always good for our clients to be able to pick up the phone and speak to someone if they’re not sure about something.
What did you do before you joined Lifeline IT?
I worked in accounts for Virgin Retail for several years and when that business closed I joined Lifeline IT in 2012.
What’s the best thing about working at Lifeline IT?
I feel like I’m my own boss, yet with the support of a company, which is great. I set my own deadlines and run things to set schedules. I like the independence of organising how things are done and being in control of my workload.
And finally, what do you enjoy doing when you’re not in work?
I enjoy cooking and spending time with my family and going away on holiday. We like to go far a field if we can – we’ve been on a safari to Nairobi and have travelled around the Far East to Hong Kong, Bangkok, Koi Samui and Kuala Lumpa.
