TOP 10 FAVOURITE APPS FROM LOCKDOWN LIFE

Published: 1 July 2020

Unsurprisingly, reliance on tech since lockdown has been crucial and app usage has rocketed, with downloading of communication apps up 45% according to some network providers.

But aside from the usual suspects of WhatsApp, Zoom and Facetime, being lovers of all things techie here at Lifeline IT, we asked the team to let us know some of their favourite apps from the last few months.

1. Radio Garden

With overseas travel curtailed at present, you can instead experience a musical journey around the world with Radio Garden. It features a rotating globe that you can travel across to find unique stations – everything from a hip-hop station on New York’s Long Island and electronic sound from an Australian underground station in Brisbane, through to old Grecian classics on Athens radio.

2. iHandy (Spirit) Level

For anyone who has been indulging in DIY these last few months, this convenient spirit level app makes easy work of DIY tasks such as picture hanging and angle measurement. It can also be used for more technical jobs, such as roof pitch calculation and even measuring the inclination of an aircraft, ship, car or mountain! A favourite with Lifeline IT’s Daniel, who uses it to set up his bicycle seat.

3. Dark Sky

A great app for weather fanatics – especially as outdoor meet-ups have been the only form of socialisation. With down-to-the-minute forecasts, you’ll know exactly where the rain will start or stop, right where you’re standing.

4. JustDo

Struggling with efficiency whilst remotely home working? This time management and communications system for business and project management can help. JustDo provides a collaborative environment for planning, managing and executing ongoing processes and specific projects.

5. SkyView® Lite

Lose yourself in the stars with a stargazing app that brings the galaxy to your phone. Simply point your smartphone or device at the sky to discover stars, constellations, satellites and more.

6. MapMyRide

An old but good one – the comprehensive fitness app that allows you to log any kind of workout – walk, run, cycle – using your phone or favourite device. The app also has a social element as you can find support from other runners/cyclists, as well as create challenges and follow training plans.

7. LastPass

A safe and efficient password storage system – just remember your master password and LastPass does the rest by recalling all other passwords for your devices, accounts, memberships and Wi-Fi codes.

8. Panasonic Image App

An application that makes it possible to use your smartphone to remotely control the shooting and playback functions of a Wi-Fi-compatible digital camera/digital video camera, and to perform upload operations to SNS (Social Networking Service) sites.

9. Truecaller

Make those irritating ‘No Caller ID’ phone calls a thing of the past with this app that identifies incoming calls from unknown numbers.

10. SoundCloud

The world’s largest music and audio platform, SoundCloud lets you discover and share music from around the word, especially breakthrough tracks, raw demos and podcasts.

And finally, don’t forget the C-19 COVID Symptom Study – a scientific app designed to gain a better understanding of the disease and how it affects different regions. It takes literally seconds to report how you feel every day and has useful maps and tools showing data and information relevant to your local area.

NB: These apps are not endorsed by Lifeline IT.

This uses the new tabs module, so we can style it however we want using our built in design controls!Pretty nifty eh?
And of course you can add images or whatever you want here too.Tabs are nothing new, but tabs that display inside your mega menu are pretty awesome 🙂
